- Soil Type: Hostas thrive in well-draining, fertile soil rich in organic matter.
- Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist, especially during hot, dry periods, but avoid waterlogging.
- Sun Exposure: Plant in partial to full shade for optimal growth; too much sun can scorch the leaves.
- Spacing: Space plants approximately 2 to 3 feet apart to allow for mature growth and air circulation.
- General Maintenance: Mulch around the plant to retain moisture and suppress weeds; remove dead leaves and debris as needed.
- Fertilizing: Apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring for best results, following package instructions for dosage.
- Pest Control: Monitor for slugs and snails, and use organic methods like bait or traps if necessary.
- Winter Care: In colder climates, cut back foliage after the first frost and add a layer of mulch for winter protection.
