- Soil Type: Ensure the gardenia is planted in well-draining, acidic soil with a pH of 5.0 to 6.0 for optimal growth.
- Watering: Water the plant regularly, keeping the soil consistently moist but not soggy; aim for about 1 inch of water per week, more during hot spells.
- Sun Exposure: Plant in a location that receives partial shade to full sun; ideally, 4 to 6 hours of sunlight daily will encourage healthy blooms.
- Spacing: Space gardenias 3 to 4 feet apart to allow for proper air circulation and growth without overcrowding.
- General Maintenance: Fertilize with a slow-release acid-loving fertilizer in early spring and prune the plant after flowering to maintain its shape and promote new growth.
