- Soil Type: Osmathus fortunei thrives in well-draining, loamy soil with a slightly acidic to neutral pH (6.0 to 7.0).
- Watering: Water the plant regularly, keeping the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged, especially during dry spells.
- Sun Exposure: Position the plant in full sun to partial shade, ideally receiving at least 6 hours of sunlight per day for optimal growth.
- Spacing: Space each plant 3 to 5 feet apart to allow for mature growth and adequate air circulation between plants.
- General Maintenance: Prune as needed to maintain shape and encourage bushier growth, typically in late winter or early spring before new growth begins.
- Fertilization: Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in spring to provide essential nutrients for healthy growth.
- Pest Management: Monitor for pests like aphids or scale; treat infestations promptly with insecticidal soap or neem oil.
- Mulching: Apply a layer of mulch around the base to retain soil moisture, suppress weeds, and regulate soil temperature.
